Accommodation Service

How Accommodation Services can help

We are a professional and caring team of staff who can provide assistance whether you're looking for a room in University halls of residence or a place in local private rented accommodation.

University Halls of Residence

We have 1,186 single rooms across our halls of residences which are managed by our partners, Viridian Housing, a housing association which specialises in the delivery of student accommodation. We have signed up to the Universities UK Code of Practice for Ivy Hall. The code outlines best practice and provides benchmarks for the management and quality of student housing in the Higher Education sector. Viridian are affiliated to The Accreditation Network UK (ANUK) and have signed up to the National Code of Standards for larger Developments for Writtle House, Platt Hall and Usher Hall.

As part of our commitment to improving services and enhancing the experience of our students we undertake an annual exit survey of all hall residents.  The results of this survey helps us plan services and communications for the following year. Download a summary of the feedback here. In partnership with Viridian Housing we are able to provide a friendly, safe student focused environment which is responsive to your needs.

Applying for a room in Halls

Students without any holds against their records can use our online application facility to submit their application and pay the £200 deposit required from 1st March onwards. However the application will not be looked at until 12th September. If we are unable to offer you a room your deposit will refunded.
