Union's VP spreads Xmas joy

Sophie McKay, BSc Nursing

While I was studying at Middlesex, I was the representative for my course and president of the Raise And Give (RAG) volunteering and fundraising society, through this involvement I became a big part of the Student's Union.

It has been so rewarding to be involved in RAG, I helped them renovate a primary school in Uganda and worked in a hospital in China.

The Students' Union later encouraged me to nominate myself for the role of Vice President of the Schools of Health & Education, and Science & Technology. The election period was fun and exciting, I got the chance to talk to a lot of students about how I wanted to change the Union and improve the student experience. I was thrilled to win the election!

I enjoy working with MDX SU and RAG because it gives students opportunities to try out something new, such as being a MDX media radio presenter, or student voice leaders that can set the direction of union campaigns. The best thing about working here is the people you meet, I have met friends that I know I will have for the rest of my life.

My experience at MDX has encouraged me to make the most of my time at Uni and the experiences I have gained will help me in my future career as a paediatric nurse!
