    Yoga versus Stress

By MDX Student Writer, Magda Kania

Why everyone should try yoga during busy times at uni

    1. Frankie says relax

Even though the actual song goes “relax, don’t do it”, in this case it’s the opposite. Yoga is the best form of relaxation. When studying hard, give yourself a thirty minute break to hop on the mat – during that time your brain will switch off and relax, so that when you get back to work, you feel fresh and filled with new ideas.

    2. Not a morning person

Getting up early, especially in winter, is a struggle for all of us. Before rushing to uni, try starting your day with yoga. A simple 15 minute practice (there are loads of free videos on Youtube to follow) will wake you up, make you feel motivated, accomplished and empowered (because hey, you worked out in the morning!). It's truly the best start to the day.

    3. Confidence boost

Yoga shapes your body, makes you more flexible and perfects your posture. A common misconception is that yoga is only for super flexible models - that's just not the case. No matter what you're body shape is,  yoga makes you feel good about what you look like on the outside and feel on the inside - making you more confident and better at confronting the challenges that we're daily faced with.

    4. Student's lullaby

Yoga puts your mind at ease. You learn how to be less distracted by your thoughts, which often helps with focusing on one thing at a time and also improves your sleep. And who doesn’t want to have a good nights sleep before a difficult exam?

    5. Good energy

I’ve been practicing yoga for almost a year now and making it my habit was the best decision I’ve ever made. Of course, new beginnings and habits can be quite difficult but after some time it becomes a part of your life and you can’t imagine a day without a practice.

So with exams and assignment deadlines looming,  why not try some yoga - I promise you'll see some positive impacts in your life instantly.
