Parts of the University (including the Sheppard Library, College Building and Williams Building) will be not accessible to staff, students or the local community during the exercise. See map for further information.
We encourage students to utilise alternative study spaces in the Grove Atrium and within Hatchcroft (although access is limited for Hatchcroft labs on weekends).
The exercise will involve officers from the Metropolitan Police, members of the Fire and Rescue and Ambulance service and Middlesex University working together to respond to an ‘incident’ which is being staged within the University campus grounds.
Glynn Chapman, who is leading on the exercise for the force said: “It is going to be a busy and demanding exercise and we do not want students to be concerned if they hear bangs and the sounds of fire-arms being discharged – it’s all part of the training and no live ammunition will be used. We are extremely grateful to Middlesex University for lending us their facilities.”
If students have any welfare concerns, you can view our out-of-hours support on UniHub. The Counselling and mental health support service will resume Monday morning and appointments will be available for students who would benefit from one.
You can find more information about campus opening hours and support over the Christmas break in our Christmas Guide.
