Active Start is a 10 week supervised exercise programme, to help you on your journey to becoming fitter and more active.
Well here’s the answer – a 10 week programme of sport and fitness based activities available to you at various times during the day, to more easily fit into your current routine.
Active Start is open to students at the University who are looking to commit to getting more active. We will provide an initial consultation, which will enable us to better support you in starting off your fitness programme, and hopefully ensure you’re able to stick with it. There is a wide range of sessions available, and you’ll be encouraged and supported to create a routine, that will enable you to build more physical activity into your life.
Sessions available include supervised gym sessions in the Fitness Pod, group sport and exercise classes, drop-in social sport sessions, and independent sessions where you can access facilities and equipment at a time to suit yourself.
The programme is deliberately designed to offer flexibility in terms of the variety of activities available, and the time when they take place. Once you have signed up to the course, and paid the initial fee, you will be allocated an appointment for an initial consultation. You need to commit to completing the 10 week programme, which includes attending a minimum of 3 sessions a week, at least one of which, must be supervised by one of our fitness staff/ instructors. In the 10th week of the programme, you will have a further consultation/ assessment to conclude the intervention, and hopefully set you on the way to access the other fitness and physical activity programmes available at the University.
You need to register for the programme and pay a £20 fee, which on successful completion of the programme, can be used as an additional credit towards a further MDX Sport activity programme or membership.
