    Who are the LET

The Learning Enhancement Team (LET) are a team of specialists here to help you get the most out of your time at University, giving you the tools and support you need to excel in all aspects of your studies.

We offer free help to all students here at Middlesex through 2 key services:

    1. Academic Writing and Language (AWL)

We specialise in teaching the use of language to communicate effectively in academic contexts. This may range from general academic language used in any subject and in any writing, to the very specific academic language and styles required in specific disciplines and/or types of writing. We often work with subject lecturers to make certain we know exactly the academic language and styles all students at Middlesex need to be able to use! There are different AWL co-ordinators for each School.

    2. Maths, Stats and Numeracy (MSN)

We specialise in teaching the maths and numeracy you need to succeed at university and beyond. We also teach you how to understand and use statistics in your studies. Maths and statistics are not everyone's favourite topic, but it's certainly our favourite topic – and our aim is to make you love it too!

    How to access our services

You can speak to us face-to-face at our LET Open Seminars, and in our LET One-to-ones. You can also access our support via our online resources.

Sometimes you will also see us in your lectures and/or seminars, working alongside your subject lecturers as part of your degree programme to help you understand the assignments on your programme, to help you with the essay writing process, to help you with report writing, to help you with your dissertation, to help you prepare for presentations, or to give you guidance on appropriate communication and use of academic language in your subject.

During the year we run various academic campaigns which give you the opportunity to meet us in places like the Quad, the Grove, the Williams and the Sheppard Library. You'll hear information about these campaigns before we run them.

    Study skills quiz

This short quiz gives all new Middlesex students the chance to find out how best we can support you in developing the study skills that will allow you to get the most out of your time here at Middlesex. Available via myUnihub, it should take you no more than 15 minutes to complete the self-assessment. Once you're done, we'll email you your results, point you to the resources you might benefit from in the coming months, and provide an introduction to the full range of support available to you.

We are always very keen to get feedback from our students; please Tell us what you think!
