Accessible Texts

Assistive technology: The library offers a range of assistive technology to enable all students to use our resources, see the Assistive Technology page. In addition our library ebooks and your Kortexts have features such as zoom and read aloud built in. There is more detail on accessibility of ebooks and Kortexts in our Library Guide: Support for students with a disability or a health condition.

Sensus Access: This is free to use software which converts text to speech e.g. MP3 format. It can also be used to improve difficult to read materials. To use this see the Sensus Access page

Format availability and requests: If the assistive technology does not help sufficiently, and an eBook of the text is not available or accessible, students who have been assessed and referred by the Disability and Dyslexia Service may request for texts to be supplied in an alternative format, either via RNIB Bookshare or direct from the publisher.

Waiting time: It can take several weeks to supply alternative format texts, depending on the publisher, so please ensure requests are submitted in good time.  We will confirm receipt of your request and inform you of progress and any delays by email.  If we are unable to fulfil your request, you will be informed as soon as possible.

Queries: For further details, please contact Jo Wilson:
