After your studies

Our support doesn't stop once you graduate. Here are just some of the ways we can help you getting a flying start in your chosen career.

Working in the UK after your studies

The regulations governing working after your course are subject to constant change, so please speak with the International Student Advice Team to find out what options may be available to you.

Please check UKCISA  and GOV.UK for up to date changes.

Graduate route

The UK government has announced the introduction of a Graduate Route visa (also known as Post Study work) for International students.

Students holding a valid Tier 4 or Student route visa, who have completed a degree programme at Undergraduate level or above will be able to apply to remain in the UK and work.

This visa will allow students to remain in the UK and work for:

  • 2 years after they complete their Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree at Middlesex University
  • 3 years after they complete their Ph.D. at Middlesex University.

We recommend watching the UKCISA webinar on the Graduate Route as it covers eligibility, applications, and work options under the Graduate Route, followed by Q&A.

Deferring your Dissertation, Coursework, Exams

  • PLEASE NOTE: If you cannot complete your course within your current student route visa, please contact us (International Student Advice Team | intadvice@mdx.ac.uk | Telephone: 0208 411 4507)
  • Any type of deferral of your programme of study may affect your eligibility to apply for the Graduate Route Visa

Start-up and innovator schemes

The Start-up scheme* is designed to help students and graduates, including those with Student route (formerly tier 4) visas, who want to start a business in the UK.

The scheme is run by our Enterprise Development Hub who will guide you through the application process and perform an assessment of your business plan as it's essential you have a business plan endorsed by a Home Office-approved endorsing body.

The scheme is open to graduates from any UK institution, but limited numbers mean that MDX students will be given priority over non-MDX students and graduates.

*This has replaced the Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur.
