    • Health

    Our mood and activity levels are closely linked and it’s vital that we continue to look after both our mental and physical health. Breaking up your study day with some activities is a great way to achieve this balance.


    Take the UNIHEADS free 20 minute mental health training course.

    You’ll learn how to look after your wellbeing and mental health, how to support a friend who might be struggling, learn how to stay well in light of Covid-19 and be signposted to university and SU resources and support. You can start the course and come back to it at any time.

    Yoga for Wellbeing

    Join our MDX student community for beginner’s Iyengar Yoga with MDX Lecturer and Iyengar Yoga teacher, Joanna. These sessions are designed specifically to work on your flexibility, stress levels and to help you to feel part of #TeamMDX. You just need a space to stretch and some comfy clothes.


    • Book for Tuesdays: 4.45pm to 6.00pm [Please note there will be no classes on the 11th and 18th of August.]

    Connect and Support Groups

    The Counselling and Mental Health (CMH) service are offering online “Connect & Support Groups”. The aim of the groups will be to offer support to those struggling with feelings of isolation, loneliness, diminishing resilience, anxiety and uncertainty. You'll be able to connect with others who may be experiencing similar difficulties or having similar feelings.

    Groups will be facilitated by members of the CMH Service and will be offered to particular cohorts:

    • 3rd year finalists/ 3rd year Nursing students
    • International students
    • Care Leavers
    • Post Graduate/Research students
    • Students remaining in halls

    For further information, please email the CMH service.

    It is really important that you are registered with a GP close to your address should you become unwell. You can find more information online.

    MDX COVID Support Podcast

    Student Support and Wellbeing are working with Student Light to bring you a weekly MDX Covid Support Podcast! Hosted by Kate & Simone, two of our Counsellors in the Counselling and Mental Health team.

    MDXworks has moved completely online but are still able to support you during this financially uncertain time.

    MDXworks support services and finding immediate work

    During these uncertain times, MDXworks are currently hosting drop-in sessions remotely Monday to Friday, 10:00 - 16:00 via phone on 0208 411 6161 or by emailing the MDXWorks team.

    For more support, join MDXworks weekly pop up sessions every Tuesday and Thursday at 1pm for tips and advice.

    There are also immediate work and income opportunities available for you, which can be found on the MDXworks UniHub pages.

    Study from home - the playlist

    Why not take a break and listen to our Study from Home Spotify playlist! Studying is hard enough, so why not listen to some motivational music in the background. This playlist pulls together a great range of songs to listen to while you're studying - and they're all songs nominated by #TeamMDX.

    You can also hear musical talent created by members of #TeamMDX. If you have created a song and it's on Spotify, we'll promote it though the #TeamMDX community playlist. If you would like to be part of this playlist, email the communications team.

    • And finally, a note on kindness and compassion

    Challenging circumstances provide us all with opportunities to show kindness and compassion and connect with others.

    In our community, we have already seen so many examples of people spontaneously coming together to support each other in the past few weeks. We are so proud to belong to such an interconnected, diverse and kind community.
