Middlesex University is partnering with Barnet Council on a new civic crowdfunding initiative designed to enable the community to play a more active role in transforming spaces and bringing people together across the borough. The Barnet Together Fund will act as a £50,000 ‘pledge pot’ and will contribute to crowdfunding projects in Barnet that enhance the Borough or encourage community interaction.
Residents, businesses and students can apply to the fund and could receive a contribution of up to £5,000 towards their civic crowdfunding project if it meets the necessary criteria. You can find out more about what types of project are eligible here. The council is working with civic crowdfunders Spacehive which means that projects can also easily apply to other funds on the platform.
This initiative will also be linked to MDXCrowdfund, Middlesex University's own crowdfunding platform for all types of student and staff crowdfunding projects. We are currently working with Barnet on how best to align the two initiatives to mutual advantage but should colleagues have an idea for any type of crowdfunding project, relevant to this initiative or not, please do get in touch with the MDXCrowdfund team who would be happy to offer advice and guidance on campaign development and promotion.
Students and staff can get involved in Barnet’s civic crowdfunding initiative in a number of ways:
This is a great opportunity for students to develop their skills and to make a contribution to the wider Barnet community. Please can you promote this initiative to your students and colleagues.
