    Penalties for avoiding TFL fares

Students avoiding paying transport fares are in danger of facing criminal record

British Transport Police have drawn to our attention that a number of Middlesex students have been avoiding paying fares on the London Underground – particularly when arriving and leaving Hendon Central station.

Not paying for your ticket, and this includes pushing through station barriers, is a serious offence and can lead to a criminal record. This is unacceptable behaviour from members of our Middlesex community. You can find out more about our expected behaviours on UniHub.

The university understands that travelling around London is expensive, which is why we’ve produced a list of tips on how to budget effectively as a student. If you’ve got any particular concerns about money or finance, please get in contact with the Student Welfare Advice team.
