Celebrate National Coming Out Day with us

Founded in 1988 to celebrate coming out as LGBT+ or as an ally, National Coming Out Day empowers people to be themselves. Join us for a special screening of Love, Simon on Thursday 10 October. This event is for students, staff and friends, and is hosted by our LGBT+ Everyone Else Forum. Please bring your own snacks and refreshments.

The first film of its kind to be backed by a major Hollywood studio, Love, Simon tells the story of 17-year-old Simon Spier, who hasn’t told his family or friends that he’s gay and doesn’t know the identity of the anonymous classmate he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious and terrifying, but ultimately life-affirming. Everyone deserves a great love story, and everyone – students, staff and friends – is welcome to join us.

On the big screen we will also be showing a beautiful and moving short film made by our TV Production students entitled Illegal To Be Me, which documents the experiences of LGBT people in Ghana and was made possible by MDX Crowdfund.

If you would like to get in touch with the Middlesex University LGBT+ Everyone Else Forum, please email lgbt@mdx.ac.uk or tweet @MiddlesexLGBT.

Details of our LGBT+ liberation group for students can be found on the MDXSU website.
