Join us for a fun evening of exploring queer theory, its history and how LGBTQ+ people can use it in literary scholarship
Enjoy queer readings from Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot.
This event is led by Dr James Bernthal, Lecturer in Film, Media & English at Middlesex University. He will be discussing his own work around applying queer theory to detective fiction, the surprising hostility he faced and how queer theory provided a fresh angle on these texts and their relevance in LGBTQ+ communities whilst helping him understand himself.
