MDXBusinessCrowdfund goes live

09/07/2015
MDX Business School goes live with exclusive crowdfunding platform for students and staff.

Middlesex University Business School has just gone live with MDXBusinessCrowdfund, its school-branded, easy-to-use crowdfunding platform.

The launch of this new service through the Business School places Middlesex University among the first few educational institutions within the UK to provide an exclusive crowdfunding service to students and staff.

For those unfamiliar with the phenomenon, crowdfunding is sponsorship by a crowd of many donors, each making an individual, small donation in return for a small reward.

Currently in its pilot phase, the Business School is actively encouraging students and staff to take advantage of MDXBusinessCrowdfund and submit projects for consideration. The full launch of the site will take place at the start of next academic year.

Check out a 'top tips' video filmed by Sonam Tshering Sherpa. Sonam is a Business School student and MDXBusinessCrowdfund's first student Project Creator.

Who can use MDXBusinessCrowdfund?

The platform is initially open to all Business School students and staff, students from other Schools referred via Middlesex University's Enterprise Development Hub and staff working in collaboration with the Business School.

WHY USE MDXBUSINESSCROWDFUND?

MDXBusinessCrowdfund offers a number of distinct advantages over other crowdfunding platforms such Kickstarter:

Brand Power!

Knowing that projects have received endorsement from a trusted institution like Middlesex University increases confidence among potential project sponsors.

Connections

The Business School is well connected – from its global alumni community, to its industry connections, local business partners and many other groups of potentially powerful project supporters. It will be promoting MDXBusinessCrowdfund to its own contacts, thereby enhancing your chances of raising funds from outside of your personal network.

Advice and Feedback

Through MDXBusinessCrowdfund, you can gain access to helpful guides produced by Hubbub, who power the site and are crowdfunding specialists. These offer advice on how to give your project the best chance of success.

The Business School will also be providing feedback on project fundraising campaigns submitted for consideration and running workshops for students wanting to learn more about MDXBusinessCrowdfund and how to make the most of it.

To register your interest in attending a workshop, get in touch. Dates for the sessions are dependent on the level of interest expressed by students at any given time.

WHAT SORT OF PROJECTS WILL BE CONSIDERED?

The sky is the limit! Project fundraising campaigns can focus on everything from business ideas, to the development of new products, events, research projects, personal challenges and much more.

Each project submitted will be judged on its goals, its academic, creative or entrepreneurial merits, and the level of organisation and commitment demonstrated by the individual or group of individuals involved.

Projects submitted will be reviewed monthly. To find out more about submission deadlines, please visit MDXBusinessCrowdfund.
