Student writer Adeyemi reports on the 2018 Creative Industries degree show
Middlesex University hosted the 2018 Creative Industries degree show at the iconic Old Truman Brewery in Brick Lane. The three-days event was titled 'Emerged' and it showcased the works of MDX graduates in animation, fashion communication, fine art, graphic design, illustration, interior architecture and interior design, photography, film and television production, and in product design and design engineering: electronics, robotics and mechatronics.
Their works was displayed to around 5000 guests including leading employers and key figures in the creative industries, giving them the opportunity to network and celebrate their achievements. MDX academics were also in attendance and were marvelled at the novelty of the students' ideas.

This year's show is unique as it came after a string of successes for Middlesex arts and creative industries students and alumni in awards ceremonies and other prestigious forums.
Printmaking Master's student Wai Wong had a work chosen for the Bainbridge Open, at the ASC Gallery on Southwark's Aylesbury Estate - the exhibition runs until Friday 15th June. Graphic design students Catarina Rao and Misu Murata won major prizes at the high-profile D&AD and RSA awards, Rao receiving three separate prizes. Two Middlesex Illustration students were nominated for the 2018 Macmillan Prize for children's book artwork by young illustrators.
Also, Middlesex fine art alumni, Manual Remeggio was shortlisted for the 2018 Ashurst Emerging Artist Prize; Lina Avramidou was selected for the Platform 18 event at the Leyden Gallery off Petticoat Lane; and Liz Collini's typographic drawing 'Construction B' was accepted into the British Museum's collection of prints and drawings.
In the performing arts department, Theatre Master's student Simone Giustinelli has had his work accepted for a festival this summer in Rome, while his coursemate Munotida Chinyanga won a place on the Young Vic's Fresh Direction project and was selected for a residency at the North Wall Arts Centre in Oxford.
