Distance Learning Library Support

  • A Quick Guide to the Service

    • Is this service for you?

You are entitled to register as a distance learner if:

      • On courses validated as distance learning by the university.
      • Officially designated work based learners.
      • MProf and DProf candidates.
      • Taught post-graduates in the writing up period between the end of teaching and their completion date.
      • PhD students who are writing up their thesis.
      • Students at partner institutions, with whom agreement has been reached.

In all cases you should be fully enrolled with the University.

Please note: if you are ever able to visit a Middlesex University campus, you may use the services available to all students (you will need your Middlesex University ID card with you to gain access to the Library. If you do not have a Middlesex student ID card please contact us so that we can arrange one for you). For the full range of services, visit the Library Home page.

    • Registration

To register for the service, please email the Distance Learning Library Support team at: lrdlsu@mdx.ac.uk

    • Searching for materials

For links to our resources and guidance on which might be the most relevant for your study/research, please see our Journals & E-Resources page.

    • Requesting Materials

If you wish to access a book held by the library please follow the Postal Loan instructions, please note wherever possible, we will provide you with access to an electronic copy of your requested title.

NB If you wish to collect a copy from the library, select Hendon from the drop down menu.

To request a scan of a journal article or book chapter from Middlesex stock, please email the team at lrdlsu@mdx.ac.uk

To request a journal article or book chapter not held at Middlesex, please use the Inter-Library Loans service.

    • Your library account

Books are issued to your library record on the day they are put in the post and we also add 10 working days to the loan period to allow for delivery and return via the postal system. It is worth checking your library record regularly to make sure that you have received the items on your record and that they have been taken off your record after you might reasonably have expected them to have arrived back at the library.

Further information about how to manage your library account may be found on our Borrowing, Renewing and Returning.
