Studying from home

Resources, guides and information for successful online learning

Librarian support

The Library team can continue to support you with:

  • Finding or accessing library resources
  • Literature searching
  • Referencing
  • Online tutorials

  • Library Search has now been set to find full-text e-resources first
  • We are working with Kortext to increase the number of books available to you (available via Library Search).

If there are books that would help with your studies please tell us and we will do our best to help via our e-Book suggestion form

If your project involves anything to do with MoDA's collections, staff are still available to help.

Please email the MoDA team who will either answer your enquiry or arrange an online tutorial.

Resources for studying at home

There are so many resources at your finger tips to ensure you've got everything you need to successfully study from home. This is not an all encompassing list but gives you a taster and will be regularly updated as and when new resources are made available.

Issues accessing laptops, computers or the internet

Loan Laptops - Due to increased demand, we don't have loan laptops available at the moment. Please bear with us as we work to make more available. Please submit your laptop request via UniHelp with your UK contact number, and we'll be in touch once we have a laptop for you.

You will not be able to borrow a laptop from the self- service cabinets as they are not in service.

Loan Laptop Returns:  The return date has been extended to Friday 27 May 2022

You can return laptops to the Security Office in the College Building seven days a week between 8am and 6pm.

Got a question or have an issue?

Please raise a ticket with UniHelp and they’ll ensure the correct team looks into it.

  • For students who are experiencing short-term financial hardship, we have created an emergency fund (in addition to our Student Support Fund that helps with longer term financial challenges). You can apply to this fund for short term needs including food, utility bills, interim payments while you await benefits, and technology costs for online learning. The fund cannot be used to cover course fees.

For further assistance please follow our guidance for maximising broadband connections.

  • To make sure that you are comfortable while studying from home, we recommend that you read this good practice guide for using your laptop.
