A letter from Prof Tim Blackman and Aman Siddiqi

We’re writing ahead of the referendum on 23 June to ask you to register to vote

All those eligible to vote will be asked: ‘Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?’

Middlesex University and the Students’ Union put students at the heart of our decision-making processes through initiatives like ‘Student Voice Leaders scheme’ and ‘You Said. We Did’. As such, we feel it’s crucial that you’re also able to make your voice heard on the national stage by registering to vote.

3 out of 10 18-24 year olds are not registered to voteHowever, we know that three in ten of 18-24 year olds are not registered and of those who are registered, the 18-24 group has the lowest turnout.

Voting gives you a say on important issues that affect you and who represents you from your local councillors through to EU officials. Without your vote, you lose both the invaluable right and your voice to effect change.

All you need to register is your National Insurance number - which is available on payslips or letters about tax - and to visit gov.uk/register-to-vote. We have a guide with further information on UniHub.

The deadline to register is 7 June. Please take a few moments to register today.
