    Salsa Fit

    Fitness Pod in MDX House

    A total workout combining elements of fitness-cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility.  Feel invigorated every time you leave the class!

    Salsa Fit is a dance fitness class which turns the Latin American dance into a full body workout. Burn fat and discover your inner dancer with this exciting and heart-racing  class.

    This event is free and open to all new and returning students.

    Outdoor Table Tennis for all abilities.

    MDX House

    Our Arcade games night returns for 2017/18 - take on the competition at everything from FIFA to Mario Kart, Jenga to retro party classics., music, and more!

    This regular Monday night event is a great way to unwind after a long day of lectures, and start your week off right.

    International Orientation: Orientation Workshops

    Moving to a new country and adapting to a new culture can be difficult if you don't have the right guidance. Join us for the orientation workshops exclusively for international students to receive the guidance and advice needed from the professional services at MDX to prepare you for studying and living in the UK. Followed by a Fish and chips lunch with the students' union.

    Only available if you have booked onto the International Orientation Programme

    Cross Train Circuit

    9am - 9.45am

    Fitness Pod in MDX House

    This fun  class takes advantage of gravity and your own body weight to deliver a challenging whole body workout.

    Due to the versatility of the  training  nearly all of your goals can be hit. You may set out to build up your muscle strength, lose some weight or even work towards a significant milestone.  It’s suitable for all levels of abilities.

    This event is free and open to all new and returning students.

    Access Centre Coffee Morning

    10.30am - 11.30am

    Access Centre in the Sheppard Library

    Do you want the chance to win an iPad? Do you want to find out what support is available through DSA? Come along to one of our Access Centre Coffee Mornings, meet our specialists, check out the equipment and software you might be able to get through DSA. We will answer all your queries, help you fill in your DSA applications and explain the whole process to you.Free event designed for students who may need support of the Access Centre including,  but not limited to, students who have disabilities, SpLD's or medical conditions

    Get a taste of Britain at this classic Fish and Chips lunch with your Students' Union. Make new friends and network with your peers.

    Following on from the International Orientation Workshops, head on over to MDX House where you can get to know MDXSU more alongside your peers over a classic Fish and Chips lunch.

    Legs, Bums and Tums workout session

    6pm - 7pm

    Fitness Pod in MDX House

    LBT is designed to target the Legs, Bums and Tums! The class is suitable for beginners to the more advanced.

    This upbeat class utilizes both body weight exercises such as squats and lunges as well as free weights to tone the arms and shoulders. A high number of repetitions are used to really work each area. The class will also focus on floor work designed to target the abdominal and core muscles. The class will finish with a cool down and developmental stretches are included to improve flexibility.

    This event is free and open to all new and returning students.

    Rock n Roll Bingo

    8pm - 11pm

    MDX House

    Haven't you heard? Bingo is back - and it's loud. For one night only, MDX House will be transformed into a retro disco hall, and you'll be checking off tunes rather than numbers.

    Cycle Fit

    Cycle fit is a great way to get a vigorous workout, burning calories and keeping your muscles in shape.

    It’s a good cross training alternative to running and can really get you working hard.  It is an effective workout with varied routines keeping things fresh and is great for all ability levels.

    Core Strength

    7.45am - 8.30am

    Fitness Pod in MDX House

    A 45 minute intense class targeting abdominals, back and all aspects of core stability. Strengthening and targeting this area is key to any workout and allows other training to be performed better as a result.

    This event is free and open to all new and returning students.

    Come and meet your Students' Union. As part of your Welcome to Middlesex University your Students' Union will be present all over campus and waiting to meet you. Whether you want to meet your elected Student Officers, your part-time officers, or some of our staff. Come down to our Hub to come talk to us, take part in some of our fun activities, and learn more about what is happening throughout Welcome Month!

    Join MDXSU as we take you to South Kensington, home to three of London's most infamous museums:

    The Victoria & Albert Museum, is world leading on art and design, Natural History museum - home to show you some of the most enjoyable museums the capital has to offer

    Box Fit

    Fitness Pod in MDX House

    Box Fit is a thorough full-body workout, which focuses on more than just the arms. This class involves upper body conditioning which tones and strengthens the core, as well as cardio training which improves stamina and heart functionality.  Box Fit is fun and energetic, and a great way to relieve stress!

    The Claddagh Ring

    A nice relaxing night at our local Irish pub, come down to test your knowledge in a fantastic pub quiz, hosted by your very own Students Union President.

    Ready, Steady, Cook - Cookery Classes

    A special FREE cooking class from campus head chef Steve Lierberman, showing you how to cook delciious, healthy food on a student budget.

    For many of you, the start of university means the start of being independent… and missing out on home cooking!

    This event is on a first come, first served basis and spaces are limited.

    New Beginnings Workshop

    2pm - 3.30pm

    Sunny Hill House Meeting Rooms

    A workshop to help you understand and manage the process of change as you start a new chapter of life.

    New place. New people. New chapter. Starting university can be an exciting time and lots of fun, but it can also be really stressful! Meet other students who are also starting at Middlesex. Find out about how to manage the challenges of change and share your expertise too. Refreshments provided.

    Try something different and meet new students.   A fast growing popular activitiy especially with students from Norway.   This activity is subject to weather

    Back to school activities with rounders, good opportunity to get to know new people in a simple but really enjoyable game. As this is an outdoor activity it will be subject to weather.

    Mixed Wheelchair Basketball

    5pm - 7pm

    Social space next to Terrace MDX House

    Give it a go 3 v 3 wheelchair basketball in a friendly social environment.  Available for all levels including complete novices, coaches will be on hand to offer advice.

    PIYO (Pilates and Yoga)

    6pm - 7pm

    Fitness Pod in MDX House

    Pilates, yoga, strength training and sports stretch combined in one fitness class, combing the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. We increase the speed to deliver a true fat-burning, low-impact workout that leaves your body looking toned and fit.

    Shisha Night

    7pm - 11pm

    Meet at MDX House

    Edgware Road

    Whether you're a shisha regular or just want to find out what all the hype is about, join us at one of London's best shisha lounges on Edgware Road.

    With Moroccan food on the menu and a delicious selection of cocktails and mocktails to pick from, this is the perfect place to relax and socialise!

    Entry is free - shisha not included - but spaces are limited. Let us know you're coming by booking your place online now and don't forget your Oyster card!

    Full Body Circuit

    9am - 9.45am

    Fitness Pod in MDX House

    Consisting of compound exercises, working several muscles groups which allows for greater calorie burn, improved coordination and balance.

    Full body circuit is a fast-paced class in which you do one exercise for 30 seconds to 5 minutes and then move on to another exercise. The class uses a mixture of aerobic activity (like stepping or stationary cycling) with a muscle-strengthening activity (like free weights and TRX). The class will Increase your strength and aerobic fitness and burns lots of calories. Perfect for anyone looking for a good sweat to shake out of a training plateau or looking to combine a strength and aerobic routine in one workout.

    Free Gym Taster

    Come and try your batting and bowling skills during this session.  All abilities welcome.  The activity is subject to weather.

    Boxing Pad Work

    5.15pm - 6pm

    Fitness Pod in MDX House

    Boxing techniques using gloves and pads combined with speed work make this an invigorating fitness session.

    Pad Work training is designed for those who have little to no training experience in Boxing or for individuals who would like to tighten up their strikes. This class, introduces you to the basic fundamentals of Striking and as you progress with the classes moved to intermediate to advance levels. This includes stance, footwork, basic punches and the defense to these techniques. this class has many advantages some of which include inproving cardiovascular sytem, help reduce stress and help lower body fat.

    This event is free and open to all new and returning students.

    Body Weight Circuit

    Fitness Pod in MDX House

    Bodyweight training just might be the answer you've been looking for! It's a great way for anyone to build strength, and you can start where you're at right now.

    Learn how to master your own bodyweight, and you'll never need to add any outside resistance. The system of progressive calisthenics takes moves like push-ups, squats, bridges, leg raises, dips, and pull-ups and breaks them down into variations that even an absolute beginner can learn. As you get stronger at these basic exercises, you can eventually progress to more difficult variations.

    Charity Shop Tour2pm - 5pm

    Yoga

    9.15am - 10.15am

    Fitness Pod in MDX House

    Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing.

    Workout fads come and go, but virtually no other exercise program is as enduring as yoga. It's been around for more than 5,000 years. Yoga does more than burn calories and tone muscles.  It’s a total mind-body workout that combines strengthening and stretching poses with deep breathing and meditation or relaxation
