Language and Culture Exchange scheme (LCExchange) is based on the idea of connecting students who speak different languages so you can learn from one another via informal online language classes/events.
All activities are run by other Student Facilitators who are native speakers or highly proficient in the language they try to 'teach'. This approach creates a more relaxed and fun atmosphere when learning and allows both facilitating students and those who are joining in, to gain key employability skills and enjoy new experiences. It also gives you the opportunity to meet new people and build professional networks.
All activities focus not only on learning and practising the language, but also understanding the customs and traditions of the country where the language is spoken. It’s a fantastic way to learn or improve your language skills whilst meeting new people, and to develop your intercultural awareness. You may also meet people from our other campuses. Best of all, it's free!.
If you actively participate in our events for a period of time, you can also apply for a Certificate of Participation. Facilitators can also gain certification for their development of graduate competences, including Leadership and Influence.
The following languages are planned for the academic year 2023/24:
Activities will start at the end of October 2023 and will run throughout term one and term two. If you’d like to register your interest to, and for further details, visit our My Learning pages.
How will you benefit?
If you’re a native speaker of one of our listed languages, or even another one, and would like to develop your skills by becoming a language facilitator or preparing an event to support the LCExchange team, please email: lcexchange@mdx.ac.uk.
We always look for students who are native or fluent speakers and are willing to build their personal experiences and confidence, no prior experience needed. Remember, you can also gain certification for your development of graduate competencies, boosting your employability.
