      • Row Britannia update

        WE DID IT! We broke the 2020 mile target, and we are at 82% on our fundraising target

        Middlesex University Sport & Recreation team would like to congratulate everyone who took part in the Sport Relief Row Britannia challenge. It’s been a fantastic effort, and a great advert for what we can achieve collectively as a team.

        We had an overall target of 2020 collective miles, which we exceeded with an impressive 2380 miles. At the 24hr Row-A-Thon we set a target of 202 miles, which we smashed with a whopping 316 miles achieved over the 24hr time period. We were super impressed by the efforts of our students and staff, who managed to keep the rowers going for the full 24 hours, sleeping in MDXHouse, taking shifts or making efforts to get in extra early. We saw the finale attended by Row Britannia's Phil Packer MBE as our new Vice Chancellor Prof Nic Beech, Chief Financial Officer James Kennedy and Prof Sean Wellington Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, rowed to a countdown of the crowd and an explosive ending to a fabulous event.

        As part of the overall Middlesex University effort, we proposed various individual and team challenge targets which a number of people attempted. We don’t know all the results yet but a special mention should go to Professor Sean Wellington, who completed the Silver Challenge rowing a total of 140km, and Lisette Metcalf Student Housing Services Manager who achieved the Bronze challenge by rowing a total of 80km. If you completed a team or individual challenge, please do let us know.

        Our students and staff at The Fitness Pod also organised additional events Congratulations to our students and staff who organised a pub Quiz, a 'guess how many sweets in the jar' competition, and some of our captains even put themselves up for hire to do menial tasks in a 'hire a captain' auction hosted at the quiz, raising a total of £148.88 in proceeds.

        Our work isn't done yet!

        As part of the Row Britannia Challenge our 2020 mile goal was also accompanied by a £3000 fundraising target to help raise awareness and funds for student mental health in the UK. We have currently raised £2468.43 which is 82% of the £3000 target. The Justgiving page is live until early June, to enable further donations to be made, so if you are still able to communicate with family, friends and colleagues about your efforts for Sport Relief, please do let them know, and lets see if we can reach the £3000 as a team.

      • Kids Activity camps Easter and Summer

        Kids Activity Camp

        Our fun filled camps encourage children to participate in a range of sports activities, as well as arts & crafts. All activities are facilitated by qualified, experienced instructors and coaches. Prices are £25 per child per day or £110 for a 5 day week or £90 for the 4 day easter week. (We are closed on Bank Holidays). Suitable for children ages 5-11.

        Camps run from 9.00am to 4.30pm. We offer an early drop off at 8.30am and a late pick up at 5.00pm at no extra charge. Middlesex University’s kids activity camps are run at Middlesex University, The Burroughs, Hendon, London NW4 4BT.

        Full body Health Check just £25

        A qualified instructor will undertake your individual health check and provide you with feedback on your current level of fitness. The consultation covers individual medical and exercise history, fitness goals, lifestyle factors and exercise preferences as well as a variety of tests including blood pressure, body fat, cholesterol, BMI, waist to hip ratio, BMR & daily calorie needs.

        Children's Sports Birthday parties

        Book our impressive 3G pitches and Multi Activity Courts at Middlesex University in Hendon for your child’s multi activity sports birthday party. Parties cater for children from 5 - 15 years and start from just £140 for up to 10 children
        (additional spaces can be booked at £10 per child, up to 25 children).
