Welcome and congratulations on receiving an offer to study at Middlesex University. There is so much to look forward to and we’re excited to help you get ready for your journey to university.

Our Ready for Anything programme will help get you set up for your transition into university life. Join us this January, for an inclusive set of activities that reflect the culture and values of Middlesex!

You can expect sessions that will welcome you into our #TeamMDX community and help you connect with others, advice from our support services to help you look after your wellbeing whilst you're with us, as well as practical advice to ensure you're ready for your studies!

You can also look forward to exciting events on-campus - to help you explore, a chance to hear from our current students for their advice on hacking university life, and many more exciting activities!

Ready for Anything January 2024 Programme

What we wish we'd known

This session, presented by current students, is jam packed with advice on settling into and making the most of your time at uni! They’ll share tips on topics including time management, making friends, building your network, and looking after your money. They’ll also talk you through all the support you have access to, to help you succeed during your time at MDX!

Progressing your studies with IT 

A practical session with advice and guidance from out IT team to help you familiarise yourself with Middlesex Universities IT systems and helping you get set up for your studies.

Wellbeing Workshop

Your health, well-being and awareness of the support services are a key part of you getting through your degree while feeling supported. In this talk we’ll tell you about the services and communities that will make you feel supported in the challenges you may face, confident about where you’re going and what you’re doing and secure, happy and healthy in your personal life, so that you can complete your degree to the best of your ability.

Finding Work: Placements and Work Experience 

A placement is an opportunity to gain valuable work experience as a part of your degree. The placement options that are available to you will depend on the course you study, however, all courses at MDX will allow you to complete some form of work experience in industry, both credit-bearing and non-credit bearing. Completing a work placement during your studies will give you a significant advantage when competing for graduate jobs. Many employers prefer to hire graduates with ‘real world’ experience and up-to-date industry knowledge which you can gain through a placement. The MDXworks team are here to help you find and secure a placement. Come and hear about how we do this through tailored 1:1 support!

Getting Set-Up - Support Webinar run by UniHelp  

UniHelp are a team of advisors who can offer guidance, resolve enquiries and refer students to the appropriate specialist teams. If there’s anything you’re struggling with, why not stick around for this optional session, to help you get set up.

Academic Writing and Maths Confidence

Join this session to find out how the Learning Enhancement Team (or LET) can help you write academic texts effectively and prepare for your exams. It will be an interactive session designed to help you feel more confident about your studies. It will also be a chance for you ask questions and find out more about the support available for you at Middlesex.

This session will also help you find out how to boost your maths, stats and numeracy skills with our Learning Enhancement Team. This interactive session will give you the opportunity to learn more about how you can improve your confidence with maths, ask any questions you might have and discover the support on offer to you whilst at Uni.

On-Campus: Grove Atrium

Coffee and Cake Evening

Join us for some tea (or coffee!) and cake, and start making friends with students from around the world. A chance to meet others, whilst enjoying sweet treats and a hot drink. Pop in for a short time, or stay for the full duration. We can't wait to meet you!

Welcome Fair

Find out about student life and pick up some freebies at our Welcome Fair and meet some of the MDX support services and teams who are there to help you throughout your time at Uni! The Welcome Fair is a huge, free event open to all students, taking place in the Quad from 11am - 3pm on Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 January.
