Dr Sarah Bradshaw

Sarah Bradshaw 180Associate Professor, Development Studies Dr Sarah Bradshaw seeks to advance the rights of women across the world, including as a member of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network. As well as writing the background report on gender and development for the High-Level panel responsible for framing the post-2015 development agenda, Dr Bradshaw is working on the United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction Framework, using her expertise to influence how gender concerns are included in international policy development. Her research has looked at not only women’s role in responding to hazard warnings and the support they need to act as community leaders, but also the secondary effects of disasters on women, such as increased violence, changing health needs and psycho-social impacts.
