Dr Trish Hafford-Letchfield

Trish Hafford-Letchfield 180Dr Trish Hafford-Letchfield is Professor of Social Care in the School of Health and Education. Following a long professional career as a nurse and social worker she became involved in management and academia, where she actively works with issues of intersectionality and equality in social work and social care, particularly in regards to ageing in marginalised communities. Her most recent research investigates the growing number of women without children living alone in later life, and the socio-economic, emotional and psychological issues they experience. To date, little has been written about this phenomenon of older women experiencing ‘solo’ lifestyles. With the support of her colleagues and older solo women, Trish aims to give a voice to a growing sector of society which too often goes unnoticed.
