Lecturer helps build careers

Senior Lecturer and Employability Champion

Ellie Franklin has being teaching at Middlesex for 5 years and was also a student at the University. She tells us about how Middlesex played a major part in her becoming a professional and being able to use her industry experience to assist students in building their own career.

"While I was studying at Middlesex the employability team at the University helped me to secure a work placement with Barclays. It was the best thing I ever did and the most important factor in securing a graduate job.

After graduating I qualified as a Chartered Accountant and gained a wealth of experience from companies such as VISA, Royal Bank of Scotland, and Deloitte. This has provided me with many opportunities to bring stories and examples from the business world into the lecture room where I am now.

I am able to use my experience and network of professional contacts to help my students get exposure to the world of work and assist them in planning for their own careers and professional development. Nothing (other than a great lecture) makes me happier than to see my students do well. I feel personally responsible for inspiring my students to have high aspirations."
