#TeamMDX Students win gold at Youth International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition

Four Master's students take home gold medals at awards ceremony

Four MSc International Innovation and Entrepreneurship students took home the gold, last night at the International Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition – UK Final.

Jordan Andrews (team captain), Carolina Pizzo, Cristian Dina and Hamdan Javed won team gold, and also individual gold medals, at the special awards ceremony convened at the Institute of Directors in London.

The team competed in the international final against 19 other teams including 11 teams from China. The competition involved analysing a business scenario, running a virtual business for three years of trading, and presenting the findings to a panel of judges.

The competition was the second International Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition; and convened by the National Council for Entrepreneurship Education. The pre-qualifying rounds in China were watched by 70 million people. The Chinese Ministry of Education and the British Embassy were both involved in the competition.

The international final was held at the Clarence Centre for Enterprise and Innovation, London South Bank University. After the competition the contestants were treated to rides on two private hire vintage Red London Buses for the journey via famous London land marks to the awards ceremony at the Institute of Directors in Pall Mall. The main awards were presented by the Chinese Ambassador in London.

The students tutor, Dr Christopher J Moon, Senior Lecturer, Middlesex University was also awarded an Outstanding Teacher Award at the event.
