As you know MDXMoves has become a massive part of Middlesex community life and we currently have over 3000 student and staff members.
Since launching the platform back in August 2018 we have had some fantastic success stories, hearing how the platform has helped motivate or encourage many of you to be more active, whether it be through rewards, engaging with friends on the leaderboards or in the monthly challenges.
Currently the platform we use to run MDXMoves is supported by a company called HiMotiv, and although we think the system is great, there are a few draw backs in both the administration back-end reporting functionality and in the user experience (we know many of you requested an app & not just a web app).
We have decided to launch a new system in collaboration with a company called Open Play who originally set up a consortium and a focus group with 10 Universities, asking what their needs were specifically. We are excited to announce that MDXMoves will be moving to MDXMoves+ for the new academic year September 2021.
In terms of the user experience you will have the opportunity to view everything through the app on your mobile device. This includes your profile, stats, challenges, rewards, performance, points etc. The app is available for both apple and android devices. MDXMoves+ will be compatible with a range of external devices such as Fitbit, apple and Google health etc and will be easily linked to your account. We will be introducing an annual Challenge with everyone who achieves the annual activity points target, eligible for a significant prize. Points accumulated will then be reset on an annual basis.
What does this mean for your current MDXMoves points?
We know many of you look forward to a weekly coffee, the occasional massage etc and as a relatively small department we encourage you to move more to enjoy these small rewards that we support through our budget to help keep the MDX community active and engaged. We are hoping to move to the new platform by 1st September and phase out the old MDXMoves system including the redemption of all MDXMoves points by 13th August 2021.
This will mean you can still claim your coffee vouchers, PT sessions etc on the system with the usual restrictions (eg one coffee redeemable per week). PLUS we have added some exciting new rewards onto the system for you to use up those points before the system closes.
