The hugely successful Gradstock careers festival at Middlesex University’s three campuses attracted more than a thousand students and 100 plus major companies.

More than 1,700 students and graduates signed up for the recent Gradstock in London while similar events were also held on the same day in Dubai and Mauritius.

The festival in London included two careers fairs, a packed programme of industry talks, LinkedIn profile booths, AI CV reviews, an entrepreneur’s corner with advice on starting your own business, live music and dance performances. Students and graduates had the chance to meet potential employers with more than 100 industry representatives in attendance from companies such as the Guardian, Gymshark, KPMG, Transport for London (TfL), Warner Bros, the Met Police, the Ministry of Justice, Clyde & Co, LGA, CassonMann, Enterprise Rent a Car, Marriott Hotel Group and Creative Skills Academy.

One Law Masters student said: “It was incredibly enlightening to interact with professionals from different backgrounds, hear about their journeys, and gain a better understanding of the opportunities available. Moreover, the networking opportunities were exceptional. Meeting like-minded individuals, connecting with potential mentors, and engaging in meaningful conversations with industry experts were highlights of the event.”

Another BSc Cyber Security and Digital Forensic student said: “The event allowed me to network, ask questions, and gain insights into different industries and job prospects, which was incredibly informative and beneficial for my future career planning.”

Jack Tims, the Head of MDX Works, which organised the event and supports graduates and students with employment opportunities and advice, said: “We are thrilled to see the continuing growth of Gradstock, with this year once again breaking records in terms of student and industry engagement.

“From its humble beginnings, with just 18 employers and 600 student sign-ups back in 2018, Gradstock has transcended expectations, evolving into an international careers festival experience for MDX students.

“To see around 200 industry guests engaging with our student community across our three campuses in London, Dubai and Mauritius is a testament to the enduring spirit of collaboration and determination that defines Middlesex University, setting a new benchmark for our future aspirations to empower our students for the future world of work.”

MDX Works would like to make a special thanks to photo and video production company Oh Brother which reviewed personal portfolios for students in the Faculty of Arts and Creative Industries.

There was various praise from the company representatives who attended including Dana Morigzan, a Talent and Culture Coordinator at Novotel, who described it as such a “great opportunity to find talented individuals for our team”.

Gradstock will return next autumn and in the meantime you can check out the 2023 Digital Festival Guide and a summary of this year’s festival.
