Local sports partners

As part of our commitment to providing as wide a range of sporting opportunities as possible, we have developed links with a number of community sports clubs. Members are encouraged to make contact with the clubs directly or staff in the sports offices will be happy to make initial contact to enable students to get involved.

  • Sports Partners

    • Southgate Hockey Club

      Southgate Hockey club are eight times National and three times European Champions, but they offer hockey at all levels from beginners to National League, for both men and women. Special membership rates are available for students and recent graduates, please contact Caroline Rowe.

    • Phoenix Canoe Club

      We have a large range of kayaks including white-water, slalom, freestyle, surf, sit-on-tops, sprint, stand up paddle boards, open canoes, sailing dinghies, windsurfers and a safety power boat.  We can provide buoyancy aids, cagoules, wet suits and helmets for all novice paddlers. Phoenix Canoe Club is based at the Phoenix Outdoor Centre on the Welsh Harp Reservoir, Cool Oak Lane, London, NW9 7ND. Contact Mark Underwood on 07854 655 968.

    • London Skolars Rugby League Club

      The Skolars play in National League Division 1 and play at White Hart Lane Community Sports Centre. The University has had numerous student players over the years, and sports scholarship students making the grade and playing for the Skolars first team. If you are interested in training with Skolars, please contact Hector McNeill on 07961 346113.

    • Old Grammarians Rugby Club

      Old Grammarians RFC share the University sports ground at Worlds End Lane N21, and offer additional training and playing opportunities to students and staff of the University. They play in the Herts/ Middlesex league. For more information contact Paul Rose on 07903 972280.

    • Barnet Copthall Swimming Club

      The Barnet Copthall pools are a short distance from the Hendon campus. The swimming club is one of the foremost in the south of England and provides the highest levels of coaching and competition. Some of the Club's swimmers compete at International level and there is also a successful Masters section. Contact Rhys Gormley on 020 8457 9900.

    • Barnet and District Athletic Club

      A long established Athletic Club catering for all ages from 9+ to adults, of all abilities. The club is based at New Barnet Leisure Centre, Lawton Road, New Barnet, Herts EN4 9BS, but also holds regular coaching sessions in Trent Park and Allianz Park.     • Highbury Korfball Club

      Korfball is a mixed-sex Dutch sport mainly played indoors, on a court similar to netball or basketball. A team consists of 4 boys and 4 girls – the aim is to get the ball through the korf (Dutch for basket!). Middlesex University students and staff have the opportunity to train and play with locally based Highbury Korfball Club which competes in the London korfball leagues. Highbury is competitive but sociable club which welcomes beginners and anyone interested in trying out this unique sport.
      Training takes place at Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre, 1 Adelaide Road, NW3 3NF, every Thursday 8-10pm. Email: infohighburykc@gmail.com.

    • Hendon Rugby Club

      Hendon RFC is the closest rugby club to the University approximately 1 mile from the campus, with a clubhouse at Barnet Copthall Centre. The club welcomes rugby players of all age and abilities to play social rugby on a Saturday afternoons, training (recommended but not compulsory) on Wednesday evenings 7:30pm at the Allianz Park Stadium. For players looking at performance rugby, the club First XV compete in the Middlesex/Herts League 2. The 2nd XV play in a Merit League

    • Hampstead Ladies RFC

      Hampstead Ladies is a  friendly rugby club based in North London. The team plays in the Championship South East 2, and regularlyfields two ladies teams, welcoming players of all
abilities. Training takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evening 7.00 - 8.30pm,at Parliament Hill Track,Hampstead heath.Everyone’s welcome so come down and get involved. For more information contact:

    • Hampstead Women FC

      Hampstead Women have 2  teams who play in the Greater London Women's League. The Club are interested in new players, and welcome the opportunity to offer our students to trial, train and

    • Old Woodhouseians FC

      Old Woodhouseians FC are one of the closest football clubs to the University, approximately two miles from the campus with pitches and a clubhouse in Mill Hill. The Club welcomes players of all abilities to play amateur football on Saturday afternoons. They run six sides in the largest amateur
      football league in Europe– the Amateur Football Combination. The 1st XI play in the Senior divisions whilst the 6th XI ply their trade at the bottom end of the league structure so they can cater for all standards.     • Saracens Women RFC

      Saracens Women RFC are the premier women's rugby team in Britain and currently field teams in the Premiership and first division of women's rugby. The team has many international players within their ranks, and they attract players from around London and the South East. The club

    • Mill Hill RFC

      Mill Hill RFC fields two senior mens' teams in the Herts Middlesex Leagues and Merit Table. Training takes place on Tuesday evenings at the clubhouse situated at Barnet Copthall Centre/ Allianz park. The club is friendly and warm (we have a log fire), and welcome new players of all abilities.
