Transport strike Action – May 2024

02/05/2024
Rail lines are set for disruption, as train drivers at 16 rail companies strike on different days.

The strikes are scheduled for 7, 8, and 9 May. Additionally, there will be an overtime ban from 6 May to 11 May, which may cause further reductions in service availability.

Affected Services:

  • May 7: Strikes will impact c2c, Greater Anglia, GTR Great Northern Thameslink, Southeastern, Southern, Gatwick Express, and South Western Railway.
  • May 8: Strikes will impact Avanti West Coast, Chiltern Railways, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, Great Western Railway, and West Midlands Trains.
  • May 9: Strikes will impact LNER, Northern Trains, and TransPennine Express.

While there are no strikes planned for London Underground train drivers, please note that customer service managers will not work overtime of from 1 May to 5 May. This action might lead to last-minute station closures.

We are strongly encouraging you to closely check your student emails for messages from your Programme Team about changes to teaching arrangements, as some sessions may be moved online.

Visit the Network Rail website and TFL website for up to date industrial action information, and plan any journeys ahead of time.
