The Value of Placements and Work Experience - and how to secure both

A placement is an opportunity to gain valuable work experience as a part of your degree. The placement options that are available to you will depend on the course you study, however, all courses at MDX will allow you to complete some form of work experience in industry, both credit-bearing and non-credit bearing.

Completing a work placement during your studies will give you a significant advantage when competing for graduate jobs. Many employers prefer to hire graduates with ‘real world’ experience and up-to-date industry knowledge which you can gain through a placement.

The MDXWorks team are here to help you find and secure a placement. Come and hear about how we do this through tailored 1:1 support!

Language and culture exchange

The Language and Culture Exchange (LCExchange) is  a scheme based on the idea of connecting two people who speak different languages to learn from one another.

For example, a Spanish speaking student who wants to improve their English will be paired up with an English speaking student who wants to learn Spanish.

This interactive webinar is designed to answer all your questions on what it is and how it works. You'll have the chance to meet other students and start learning through fun activities and an interactive quiz.

  • Don't be the same - be better! The value of extra-curricular Activity

Your degree is awesome – a beautiful thing - an invaluable testament to your dedication to continuous improvement and learning. However – in an increasingly competitive jobs market- employers are always looking for that candidate who can demonstrate and evidence that edge over others.

Our MDX Students Union and Careers service will introduce the unique and exciting extra-curricular programmes and activities that we offer – activities that build confidence; vital employability skills; resilience and career readiness. Be the candidate who stands out from the others.

  • Finding work - we are here for you!
