We hold around half a million books (including eBooks and DVDs) and over 40,000 journal titles (25,000 of which are available in full text online), as well as searchable databases across all subject areas. The majority of books that we buy are from your reading lists. There will usually be a reference copy or e-copy which cannot be taken from the library as well as several copies that can be borrowed for a week or more. To find these resources, follow the links below.
Use Library Search to find and access quality academic resources. It's a great starting point for your research.
If we don’t have something you need, please suggest a book
A small number of modules now have online reading lists and we will be adding more during the year. "Browse hierarchy" to see what is currently available and let us have your feedback.
The Library subscribes to many thousands of journals and newspapers, most of which are now received electronically. We also have a growing collection of electronic books and a Research Repository containing the work produced by our academic staff. To find out more see our Journals & E-Resources page.
Our My Subject - Library Guides contain full details of the resources relevant to your subject. We also have an online enquiry service called Ask a Librarian for all your questions about using our resources. If you need more help with your study or research, please contact your subject liaison librarian.
All of our electronic resources support research. In addition we have a Research Repository, a Museum of Domestic Design and Architecture and a number of special collections. There is also a Library Subject Guide with more detailed help for research staff.
Academic staff and all students (except Full Time Undergraduates) can use and borrow from the libraries of most other UK universities through SCONUL Access. This includes all the major research libraries in London.
If none of our collections contain what you need, we can use our connections to academic libraries worldwide to get what you need. For more information see our Inter-Library Loans page.
