As term comes to an end, we are sharing our top five #TeamMDX good news stories!
  • 1. #TeamMDX Community Video

These last few months have been tough and it has been amazing to see what you have been up to in lockdown!

We love seeing your pets, sports, cooking, painting and dancing! Keep sharing these with the #TeamMDX community; we might be apart physically, but we are still together virtually!

Check out the video to see how #TeamMDX have stayed connected.

  • 2. Powerful MDX women

Lucia isn't just a second year Sports Science student at MDX, but is also a top footballer, playing for Tottenham Hotspur Women, in the top tier FA Women's Super League.

She shows us how anything is possible if you are determined enough to achieve your goals and is very much an example of how to become #MadeinMiddlesex.

  • 3. Grant awarded to research LGBT+ inclusivity in education

Alfonso Pezzalla, a Mental Health lecturer at MDX, was awarded a research grant from Erasmus+ to develop the LGBT+ curriculum in health and social care education.

This new exciting project will build on previous work carried out by Intercultural Education of Nurses in Europe and aims to enhance the skills of teachers and trainers regarding LGBT+ issues.

  • 4. Lavanya Hemanth chosen for WorldSkills UK squad

Third-year MDX Biotechnology student Lavanya Hemanth was selected for WorldSkills UK squad training for the next "skills Olympics" in Shaghai in 2021.

Lavanya will train alongside 136 other students and apprentices for a chance to compete in Shaghai against over 80 countries.

  • 5. £15,340 raised for charity

#TeamMDX raised £15,340 for charity through the National Student Survey (NSS) in 2020. This survey gathers opinions from students on what it's like to study at MDX - looking at all aspects of university life.

This year we raised a staggering £15,340 for three incredible charities: Mind, Noah's Ark and Homeless Action in Barnet.
