Doing Stuff: Art & Music students produce their own event

20/04/2015
Doing Stuff caught up with Jeremy Sanna and Alfie Gittins, two BA Music Business & Arts Management students as they plan to host Loud @ Proud, a free one day music festival at Proud Camden Sunday 26 April from 7pm.

Endorsed by World Intellectual Property Day (WIPD), and designed to raise awareness for unsigned talent, Loud and Proud is the final project for our Events Management module and will showcase a variety of artists, many from MDX, from genres including rock, pop and acoustic. Charity Face painting will also be available and second and third years will be on hand as volunteers. It really is an MDX team effort.

We have found the experience incredibly rewarding, but it hasn't come without its hurdles. We dedicate our success mainly to Samantha - her wide experience in event management has constantly kept the ball rolling. Within any group, a range of dynamic and differing personalities affect the voice, but the success of our first event at The Spice of Life in Soho really helped the team band together.

We feel MDX as equipped us with rich bag of knowledge – to organise concerts and maintain professional relationships and contacts. Most importantly, we have been able to practice the ability to work productively within a team. The budget for event was solely from us, so a level of money management was also required!

After graduation, we hope to use these skills in consultancy with events management and advertising. Our course has definitely equipped us, to think of our next steps either within industry or otherwise.

Loud @ Proud is a free one day music festival at Proud Camden Sunday 26 April from 7pm and has been organised by Alfie Gittins, Lauren Rouse, Samantha Crompton, Jeremy Sanna, Hannah Jelley and Jen Simmonds.
