Government funding available to EU students starting in 2017/18

14/10/2016

Middlesex University is delighted by the Government’s announcement on fees and financial support for EU students starting courses in 2017/18.

European Union students applying for university places in the 2017/18 academic year will still have access to student funding support.

This follows the Government’s decision that current EU students who are eligible to receive loans and/or grants from Student Finance England will continue to receive these loans and grants until they finish their course.

This decision means that students applying to study at English universities from 2017 to 2018 will not only be eligible for the same funding and support as they are now, but that their eligibility will continue throughout their course, even if the UK exits the European Union during that period.

Following the announcement from Student Finance England, Vice-Chancellor Tim Blackman said:

“We welcome the government’s announcement that EU students in England will be able to access EU loan funding in the 2017-18 academic year.

“A global outlook is a defining characteristic of our vibrant and diverse university and around 15% of our students come from EU countries. These students are an integral part of the Middlesex community and this week’s funding guarantee will help them spread the cost of studying with us.”
