14/02/2019
Roughhouse wins Best British Animated Short at the 2019 BAFTA Awards

Amazing news comes to Middlesex as BA Animation Programme Leader, Jonathan Hodgson has won a BAFTA for his animated short, Roughhouse, at the British Academy Film Awards on Sunday night. This is also his second win for this film, having previously won best British Film at the London Animation Festival in 2018.

Roughhouse is a 15 minute short based on Hodgson's experiences as a student. The film navigates through the story of a wayward student flatmate of Jonathan's in 1970s Liverpool, and how the rest of the flat turned on him when he failed to pay the rent.

Hodgson previously won a BAFTA for The Man With The Beautiful Eyes in 2000, and was nominated for Camouflage at the 2002 awards. He has excelled hugely as both an animation director and commercials director with teaching for many years. He has been programme leader of the MDX BA Animation course since 2008.

Congratulations Jonathan, your win was well deserved!
