This provides reciprocal access and borrowing rights for staff and students at approximately 170 member institutions in the UK. If you are a student from another SCONUL institution wishing to visit Middlesex University you should apply through the SCONUL access scheme and need to bring with you your SCONUL introductory email confirmation (or SCONUL access card) and home institution ID card.
During busy periods we do not allow SCONUL Access users entry to the library on weekdays between 8:30am and 7pm.
Access is only allowed at weekends and after 7pm on weekdays.
The following SCONUL restrictions for the Academic year 2018 to 2019 are as follows:
Monday 24th September to Monday 22nd October 2018
Monday 22nd April to Monday 20th May 2019
Middlesex University extends borrowing rights to the following bands:
Band A: Staff and research students
Band B: Part time, distance learning and placements students
Band C: Full time postgraduates
Full time undergraduates are allowed reference use only.
Sconul users wishing to use the car park after 4:30pm will need to do the following:
Ring security on 020 8411 4329 2 hours in advance to book.
Provide details of their SCONUL accreditation:
i.e. Institute Name/ID Number/ SCONUL expiry date and Registration number of vehicle.
Please note that bookings for more than one vehicle is not permitted.
If your Institution is a member of EduRoam, the free wireless service, you will be able to use this in the Sheppard Library. To log into this service, please enter your home institutional network credentials following any appropriate institutional guidance. Once you are logged in, you will be able to access Wi-Fi and your home institution's e-resources. Further information in the EduRoam Wireless Access Guide.
All members of the Middlesex University Alumni Association may enter the Library for reference purposes and will need to obtain an Alumni library card through the Alumni Services page under ‘My Middlesex’.
Alumni who wish to borrow items are required to pay an annual fee of £30.00 and will need to speak to the UniHelp team to process this.
Those alumni who pay for borrowing privileges will be able to borrow five 28 day loans, and may renew these items as long as they have not been requested.
Interlibrary loans, shorter loan items, electronic resources and closed access collections are not included in the allowance, however you will have access to the Library guest Wi-Fi and a password can be generated at the UniHelp desk.
