    SCONUL and visitor services

    SCONUL

The SCONUL Access Scheme is a reciprocal arrangement which allows many university library users to access study facilities, and books at other libraries that belong to the scheme. The scheme covers a large number of university libraries in the UK and Ireland.

Middlesex University extends borrowing rights to the following groups/ bands:

    • Band A:  Staff and research students
    • Band B:  Part time, distance learning and placements students
    • Band C:  Full time postgraduates
    • Band R:  Undergraduates

Full time undergraduates are allowed reference use only.

Middlesex University is a SCONUL member, so some Middlesex students may be able to borrow from other college or university libraries depending on Band.

Please contact the University Library you wish to visit for clarification.

For further information, please visit: www.sconul.ac.uk/sconul-access

    Alumni

All members of the Middlesex University Alumni Association may enter the libraries for reference purposes free of charge, though Alumni who wish to borrow items are required to pay an annual fee of £30.00. Alumni need an Alumni card to access the Library and details about this can be obtained through Alumni Services webpage.

    Students from other institutions

We partner with a number of other H.E. institutions to allow their students access to our facilities. For further information please contact Dulce Da Costa Ribeiro de Miranda de Morais, Library Experience Manager

    Wifi: MDXOPEN

MDXOPEN is free and open to anyone on campus who requires internet access. Visitors will need to bring their own device/s. See our WiFi section on the IT Services Home page to find out how you can connect

    Visitor Restrictions

Please be aware that we have two periods per year – October and the month following Easter where access to SCONUL users and Alumni is restricted, due to these being extremely busy periods.

This may mean you may not be able to access the library at these times.

    EduRoam

EduRoam is a free wireless service. If your Institution is a member of EduRoam, you will be able to access this internet service whilst at Middlesex University.

To login please enter your home institutional network credentials following any appropriate institutional guidance.

Visitors will need to bring their own laptops/devices, but will not be able to enter the library premises at the present time. There is outside seating that can be used, should you need to make use of this service.

Once you are logged in, you will be able to access Wi-Fi and your home institution's e-resources.
See our WiFi page for further information.

    Members of the public

Due to increased demands on services by our students and staff, we are no longer able to offer entry by subscription to members of the public.
