    Making friends and building communities

University is not just about your studies. It's also about having new experiences and meeting people from all over the world.

There are so many ways to make friends at Middlesex but here are just a few of our favourites.

    Your welcome week

We have a variety of welcome events and activities prepared for you to help you settle in, meet people, and explore over the first few weeks of term.

Check out the MDXSU events and upcoming events on UniHub.

If you haven't yet, watch some of the talks and webinars that took place as part of our Ready for Anything initiative:

Are you ready to start your studies and have you ticked off everything on the Welcome checklist?

Why not also check out our Quad plus - a virtual look around our Quad, the main hub and reception to campus. Here you can also book events, ask students questions and find out more about our support services.

    • MDXSU societies

Your Students’ Union (MDXSU) exists to support you, represent you, and help you to make the most of your time at university.

MDXSU have over 100 student groups and societies, from cultural and religious groups to academic and general interest. You’re bound to meet like-minded people, develop your skills and be a part of a community on or off campus. Join as many societies as you like or start your own.

While the MDXSU offices are currently closed, the team have made every provision to ensure your voice is still heard on the issues you care about.

Make sure to join the MDX COVID-Community for information, events and activities.

    • Liberation groups

Our Liberation Groups are for students who often face discrimination and under-representation at university and in wider society. These groups help students to share their experiences, advocate for change and find their supportive networks on campus.

Currently, there are four Liberation Groups:

To join a group, set up your own, or for more information, email MDXSU or visit the MDXSU website.

    • Get social

Social distancing does not have to mean ‘less social’.

#TeamMDX is a positive and supportive community where we look out for each other and we want to ensure you feel that energy virtually too. Whether you want to socialise, network or learn something new, there’s always something happening. Check out our upcoming events.

Love to be online? Make sure to follow ustweet us and like us to keep up to date with what we're up to and what opportunities you can get involved with.

You can also join our MDX Freshers group to make new friends even before you start your classes.

    • Gradstock 2020

Gradstock is the University’s annual careers & employment festival.

In the brand new online format, Gradstock is offering you daily headline acts, live industry insight talks, interactive workshops, panel discussions, an alumni networking tent, pre-populated online content from exhibitors, and a range of entertainment to choose from.

    • Language and Culture Exchange

Learn a new language, explore new cultures, make new friends and improve your employability.

The Language and Culture Exchange (LCExchange) is an innovative scheme which aims to connect two people who speak different languages to learn from one another using friendly, informal conversation.

LCExchange is flexible, you learn at your own pace and you have a dedicated team that you are able to contact for support and advice. In addition to this, you will have exclusive access to LCExchange social events and will receive a certificate of engagement.

For more information, visit Language and Culture Exchange on myLearning.

    • Multi-faith provision

You are now part of our #TeamMDX community, which attracts students and staff from all over the world.

We are celebrated for our diversity and inclusivity. This is why we aim to incorporate services, societies and facilities that cater for your spiritual needs and beliefs.

Most major religious denominations have dedicated chaplains for London-based university students.

Our MDXSU also has a variety of student societies that you can join, including our Islamic societies and the Christian Union Society.

For more information regarding religious needs, check out our dedicated religion page.
