How To Stay Motivated

Cold and rainy days are here and most of the time the sun is too shy to say hello to us – poor students overwhelmed by amount of uni work. It isn’t a surprise then, that all we want to do is hide under a blanket and never leave the room, so we are not forced to deal with the snow, wind or temperature below 0°.

So how, in all that gloominess, can we find a spark of hope to motivate ourselves?

Well, let me start with…

A MOTIVATIONAL VIDEO

This simple video with Shia Labeouf is just excellent! It makes you laugh which means at least for one minute you won’t be stressing out about the deadlines, and… it works!

Find something suitable for you, and watch or read it during a time when you feel like nothing will get you just can't get moving.

HUMAN INTERACTION

Honestly, it works! Ask your friends about their work, show them your projects, do a brainstorm. I’ve noticed that sharing ideas makes me want to create more and keeps me motivated.

So whenever you struggle with any task, just ask someone else for their opinion – it may trigger your creativity!

CREATE A PLAYLIST

No more sad, melancholy songs! Keep your playlist buzzing – positive songs will affect your mood and help you with finding the motivation.

You can also try music for concentration – there are plenty of playlists on Youtube or Spotify.

GET UP EARLY & PLAN THE DAY

Trust me, I thought I’d never say such a thing in my life. However, I’ve started getting up two hours earlier than usual.

Hearing the alarm clock at 7am may not be the nicest sound on Earth, but managing to get out of bed at that time makes you feel good about yourself from the outset. Now you have time to sit down and write down the tasks for the day. Ticking them off in the diary is super satisfying, as it shows you how much work you have already done.

Being organised helps you with completing all the jobs for a day and gives you the motivation to set yourself more goals.
