Student Writer Natasha provides some tips on how to keep on top of your course deadlines
5 tips to maintain coursework motivation
Looking to stay motivated, on top of your coursework while managing work and getting some playtime in too? Try your hand at these 5 tips and become a go-getter!
1) Create a timeline
Don’t let the deadline loom. Divide each part of your assignment and allocate dates to finish each sub-task. Instead of cramming your research and writing into a few hours, this method will enable you to finish well before the deadline.
2) Pick the right environment
Home is for your bed, comfort and laziness. Pack your bags and go to a nice cafe, get yourself a cup of coffee and let the inspiration sink in. Your coursework will write itself.
3) Reward yourself
As psychology has proven time and again, working towards a reward helps us to stay motivated. Want to go to that new pub with your friends? Set yourself a goal to only go once your coursework has been completed. You’ll positively condition yourself to work hard just for the reward that comes after!
4) Get in touch with your module leader
Sometimes even before we get started on our coursework there might be details we are unsure about. That’s de-motivating right from the outset. Make sure you communicate with your module leader and get any of your questions answered. The clearer the directions are, the faster you finish the journey!
5) Work in groups
Are you the kind of person that finds it hard to work alone? Go pick a partner or two, do the coursework simultaneously and help each other out. Motivate, inspire, critique and support one another! It always helps to have people by your side.
